Why Remodel

When Plano Homes Need a Remodel

Old Town Plano homes from the 1960s and 70s often have odd layouts. Tight kitchens, closed-off rooms, and old bathrooms show up a lot. West Plano homes near Legacy are newer. But owners still want upgrades after 15 or 20 years. Plano's clay soil shifts over time. This can crack drywall and tile. It pushes remodeling jobs onto the calendar sooner than planned. A full home makeover is a big choice. Good advice early helps the whole job go smoother.[1] We've worked on homes in Deerfield and Shadow Creek. These homes needed the updates most buyers want today. Waiting often means living with a layout you don't like. Or a bathroom that's starting to show its age.

Common Projects

Outdated Kitchens

Old cabinets, worn counters, and tight layouts slow down busy families. We rebuild kitchens that work better for daily life.

Tired Bathrooms

Cracked tile and old fixtures make bathrooms feel old fast. We update them with new tile, vanities, and finishes.

Whole House Renovations

Some homes in Old Town Plano need more than one room updated. We handle full makeovers room by room or all at once.

Foundation-Related Cracks

Plano's clay soil shifts and cracks drywall or tile in older homes. We fix the damage and remodel the space while we're there.

Room Additions

Growing families often need more space instead of moving. We add rooms that match your home's style.

Flooring and Finish Updates

Old carpet and flooring drag down a whole home's feel. We put in new flooring that fits your budget and style.

Mighty fine work! It was still raining when the technician showed up. I tried to talk him out of starting the work. He did not listen to me.
The work was great!
I met the owner who pointed out some repair that he would fix for a price OR I could agree to a yearly reoccurring visit. I was already thinking I needed that yearly visit so it was a win-win.
Me and my 11 oak trees highly recommended this company!

Lisa was the office manager who scheduled our cleaning. She provided quote without wasting time of estimate, etc. they provided competitive pricing and did the job extremely well. We haven't cleaned our gutters in years and they took all trash, cleanup with them so we didn't have to worry about it. We look forward to using them again soon.

I am going to save you time and money by telling you that prior to hiring GSOT, I had extensively researched and spoken with MULTIPLE companies to fix my chimney facades in my 5-bedroom home. The worst one was Philips Home Improvement (I've reviewed them on Google, Yelp, and also reported them to the Better Business Bureau).
On the contrary, I am so impressed with GSOT. Their prices were very reasonable. My chimney facades look top-notch and are guaranteed to last as long as the house. Their employees took the time to do an exceptional quality job, and most importantly, do it the right way! Their workers are amazing employees! They are very skilled, qualified, insured, and legally able to work. As a legal immigrant, this was very important to me. I would give them 6 stars if I could. I sincerely highly recommend them. If you want the job done right without shortcuts, at a good price, don't waste more time and go with GSOT!
Sincerely,
- a very satisfied customer

There are a host of gutter companies in Dallas, many with outstanding reviews. Gutter Solutions of Texas is one of them, It’s the one I chose to use to install new gutters replacing old ones with problems. Zach came by to evaluate. I thought I knew where all the issues were, but he spotted several I hadn’t noticed. And he made some creative suggestions for redo I hadn’t thought of. Their work was as timely and excellent as his planning. They are a first class outfit if that’s what you’re looking for! Loved their work.

Common Questions

Home Remodeling Questions

Here are answers to the questions we hear most from Plano homeowners.

  • How much does home remodeling cost in Plano?

Most jobs run between $5,000 and $60,000 or more. It depends on room size and materials you pick. We give a free estimate so you know the cost first.

  • How long does a remodel take?

A single room usually takes one to three weeks. A whole house job can take two to three months. We give you a real timeline before work starts.

  • Should I remodel myself or hire a pro?

Small cosmetic fixes are fine to do yourself. But plumbing, wiring, and structure changes need a licensed crew. We pull the right permits so the work passes inspection.

  • How often should I remodel my home?

Most kitchens and bathrooms need updates every 15 to 20 years. Homes in Old Town Plano often need it sooner due to age. Updating sooner can also help with resale value.

  • How do I know if I need to remodel now?

Cracked tile, old fixtures, or a layout that doesn't fit your life are signs. Plano's shifting clay soil can also cause cracks that need fixing. Waiting usually makes small problems bigger.

  • What are signs my home needs a remodel?

Watch for cracked drywall, old wiring, worn floors, or a kitchen that feels too small. These show up a lot in older Plano homes. We check for all of these during our free visit.

  • Do I need a permit to remodel in Plano?

Yes, many remodeling jobs need a City of Plano permit. We handle that paperwork as part of our Services. HOA neighborhoods like Willow Bend also need approval forms before work starts.
